Although I haven't been part of the military lifestyle for a long time, if there is one thing I've learned its to be very patient as you're always playing the waiting game with the military. Many engaged wives that are preparing to be married to a soldier always ask what to expect and how to manage and the answer is that you never really can prepare yourself or know how to act in certain situations. No matter how much we prepare and research, we can't ever fully grasp how difficult in can be.
I've had to deal with a few PTA trainings and TDY and lets just say its not so easy having your soldier away from you. I've yet to deal with a deployment, but I know it'll happen one day and all there is to do is enjoy the time that I have with my husband before he goes on his tour.
But there are many upsides to being married to a soldier. One of my favorite ups is being able to see different places of the world, making new friends, and experiencing diverse cultures. Another upside is paid leave! Not only to we get to visit our families for however many days they have added up, but we also have the relief of getting paid during that time as well.
There are many support groups out there for military spouses that can really ease your discomforts. A lot of them are on Facebook with updates every hour on just about everything that deals with a military lifestyle. One of my favorites is Army Wives and Girlfriends. This page has helped me manage with a few things that I thought would be the end of me! Every duty station will have FRGs and I haven't personally become a part of one yet, but I've heard so many positive things about them. It's never a waste of time to become part of a support group because it definitely comes in handy :)

So far, I'm made many new friends (Hoping to make some new girlfriends in Schofield) and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. I still have quite a lot of learn, but hopefully this will answer some questions to new coming military wives. I'd personally have to say that we are some of the strongest wives out there; we always just have to remember to support our spouses, love them unconditionally, and always have their backs.
